... and I meant to play Passion Pit's remake of The Cranberries' "Dreams" released in 2010 but unfortunately I ran out of time :-(
On today's show, I played popular songs that listeners now already knew (maybe?) and then told them that they were actually remakes or that they had newer versions... and then I played the other versions of the same songs.
I was also trying to spice up today's show a bit by streaming "The snowdusk Bodycam" but unfortunately that failed! LOL ... I had been experimenting with it in the past couple of days... following our very own DJ hardmous' multimedia innovations on his show. DJ hardmous had been streaming VISUALLY as well lately in addition to streaming his show via audio on aNONradio.net which I think is really cool and so I was inspired by him. Please check out his twitch.tv site https://twitch.tv/hardmous. The bodycam would have been successful if my old Macbook Pro's USB ports did not have issues. I have been streaming my show using my old Macbook Pro (early 2008) because it has separate audio input and output unlike my new 2017 Macbook Pro that has the universal audio jack (TTRS) which I absolutely hate (for now anyway). There is no native LINE IN jack! I can use a splitter and plug it into the TTRS audio/mic jack but the mic is a mono input designed for microphones and not for receiving LINE IN input from my DJ mixer and so the incoming audio is so bad. The solution is for me to buy a USB audio interface so I can use the new Macbook Pro. I also need to get one more USB-C dongle so I can connect one more older USB plug to my new Macbook Pro (for the "bodycam"). I only have one and I am already using it to stream sounds from my new Macbook Pro to one of the CDJs (used as MIDI this way... in case I need to play sounds from my computer, e.g. from Youtube... I sometimes have to play songs from Youtube if I do not have the song -- useful for requests from listeners and when I do not have money to buy the media... haha).
The reason for all these DJ setup changes is that I have decided to sell my newer Pioneer DJ controller (DDJ-SX2) and start using my older Pioneer CDJ-350W/DJM-350W again. I have been using the DDJ-SX2 for the past 3 years on my aNONradio livestreams (the CDJs/DJM setup once in a while... almost rarely actually). I really can't sell the CDJs/DJM because no one would buy them as they are already obsolete... at the same time, I also really want to save them as this model (the pearl white version) is a special edition... almost rare. You will rarely see this model sold anywhere... plus they can play anything -- CDs, mp3s, vinyls through a record player connected to the mixer via RCA phono jacks, audio from a computer via USB (the CDJs have USB connection that can serve as MIDIs... which in turn can be used to control some DJ softwares), and best of all, they can be used as standalone, i.e. no computers required... as opposed to the DJ controller which requires a computer to be connected in order to control a DJ software. There are cons in keeping the CDJs/DJM though -- there are more manual work in playing music, there are only 2 channels (as opposed to 4 with the DDJ-SX2) and the audio connections are all analogue and so expect a little bit of hum/buzz and making sure the equipment is properly grounded. OH WELL! I need the money and it is not wise to keep both equipment anyway. I had been trying to decide which one to give up for the longest time and I've finally made my decision. I have posted my DDJ-SX2 for sale on a couple of local online buy & sell sites but so far I've gotten responses but no actual selling has been happening. It's an expensive piece of equipment (also selling the Pioneer DJ bag I bought separately) and so I knew I would not be able to sell them easily. In a way, subconsciously, I've been hoping no one buys it so I can still get to keep it! Ha ha!
Anyway... There was another DJ fail on this show in that I forgot to plug back in the audio outputs coming from my DJ mixer to the computer... and so for about 7 minutes from the actual start of the show, my listeners only heard a 60Hz hum (as guessed by gemlog, a fellow SDFer and frequent listener of the IGWM and an expert on these audio stuff so I believe him :-) ).
Overall, inspite of the fails, I really enjoyed doing this show.
