I haven't blogged about personal stuff for such a long time. All I have been blogging about recently is my regular aNONradio show playlists.
So many things have transpired. Some happy, some sad. The sad seems overwhelming though.
aNONradio shows -- doing OK. Still enjoying it except for some immature comments from some people (or one person). I guess I just have to learn to toughen up a bit. The Internet could be a wild, untamed world. I really think my DJing/mixing skills have improved a lot since I first started almost 2 years ago. My taste has diversified for sure. I have developed love for new electronic genres, specifically, jungle, electro, acid house, and UK garage, in addition to my already existing interest in techno, minimal techno and 'standard' house music. Also, I was given admin privileges to administer the aNONradio wordpress site (well, kind of forcefully and jokingly... or out of sarcasm??... LOL)... I was upset at first but I just slept it off and felt fine after a couple of days. I just took it. I took it as a positive thing.
CIUT 89.5 FM (University of Toronto Community Radio) - "Rainbow Country" -- Mark Tara, radio host for CIUT89.5FM's LGBT radio show Rainbow Country gave me the opportunity to be a guest on his show in March. It was an awesome experience... and not only that -- he also asked me to DJ live for this Pride event in Toronto just last Saturday (on CIUT89.5's stage at the annual Village Fest sponsored by the Church-Wellesley BIA). I played 2 hours (and a bit more!) of non-stop 70s disco and 80s dance music (and a few modern tracks)... what made me happy was that there were people dancing on the street while I played music. It was such a fun experience. Thank you Mark Tara!
I bought a new house... I'm excited. I will be moving there end of July.
I bought a new MacBook Pro... finally!!! After 9 years I finally could afford a new one! ... and very lucky I guess for getting the just released 2017 model! I got the 15 inch, 500 GB model! YESSS! Now I don't have to worry about Serato DJ crashing in the middle of a set!
My sister had a new baby last month. My new niece is so cute!
Work --- still shit... still full of unnecessary drama and micromanaging galore... I will not elaborate. It's been helping me pay my bills and rent so I am thankful for having one. Actually, as of last month, I have been debt-free and it feels so good!... going back to work... Well, my company was just acquired by a bigger company and so I wouldn't be suprised if I get laid off. To be honest, I am not worried. I am pretty confident that I would get a replacement job in no time... plus I really would not mind getting out of that company anyway.
The mind and the heart -- still struggling with my depression and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). I have been meeting with a psychotherapist on a regular basis and have been using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) as a form of treatment. I guess it's going fine.
Lastly... and definitely not a happy one --- our family cat of 10 years... our beloved Muggsy, has died. He suffered from a sudden heart disease last Thursday. He was in great pain and so we were given an option by the vet to put him to sleep. We were told that anytime that night, he could die of cardiac arrest. We chose to end his pain. The whole family has been in shock and still in pain for his sudden loss. I took it really hard. I already wrote what I feel on my gopher space and so I will not repeat it here. I need time to recover... so far, all kinds of distractions have been very helpful. I miss Muggsy so much.
